Eighth graders will develop as leaders

“Potential leaders.” — That’s the type of student that the Junior Leadership Orange program (JLO) looks for. This year, seven students from the Highland Falls Intermediate School and one from the Cornwall Central Middle School have been selected to participate in the program.

51 students have ‘moved up’

“You’re getting a great group of freshman students, Ms. Brand. “With that, Highland Falls Intermediate School Principal Mike McElduff closed the June 26 ‘Moving Up Ceremony’, and sent his 51 eighth graders on to James I. O’Neill High School, where they will be freshmen in the fall.

Twelve inducted into NJHS

“To be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society you had to demonstrate excellence in service, leadership, character and citizenship. Think of what more you have already achieved, but also think about what more you want to achieve.”

The Highland Falls’ Intermediate School’s ‘Sunshine Club’ collects money from it’s members throughout the school year and then donates it at the end of each year.

Congratulations to these class leaders

The Board of Education of the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District, administrators, teachers, parents and others gathered in the O’Neill High School Library last Thursday evening to celebrate the Top 10 graduates of the high school (they’ll graduate on Tuesday, June 25) and Top 5 eighth grade graduates of the Highland Falls Intermediate School (they will ‘move up’ on Wednesday, June 26).
