Grace Baptist recognizes emergency responders

This year’s Public Safety Sunday, held on October 29,  was a special celebration as well as opportunity to honor the ambulance corps, firefighters, law enforcement, and public officials in our area. The congregation of Grace Baptist and friends in the area have been showing appreciation to our community emergency responders for 23 years with these special Sundays.

For this special service, public safety personnel from many departments were recognized: the Fort Montgomery and Highland Falls Fire Departments,  the Town of Highlands Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Town of Highlands Supervisor Bob Livsey, the Town of Highlands courts, the Town of Highlands, Highland Falls and New York State Police Departments, and  the Haverstraw Ambulance Corps.

These guests were presented with a book, Ultimate Questions by John Blanchard, to express our gratitude for each one’s service.

Supervisor Livsey had designated Sunday, October 29, 2023, as “Public Safety Sunday” in a previous week’s newspaper.

Pastor Snavely emphasized again the importance of showing support with encouraging words and, most importantly, the promise of prayer when first responders go out on a call.

The guest speaker, Rev. Andy Gleiser, presented a message focusing on the grace of God in giving salvation for those who believe in the work of Christ on the cross.

“The service concluded with an extensive luncheon for those who attended, and the church family of Grace Baptist hopes these public servants will long remember the appreciation of our community and our support in prayer,”  Pastor Snavely said.
