An annual tradition at Grace Baptist Church

This year’s Public Safety Sunday, held on October 27, 2019, was a special celebration as well as opportunity to honor the ambulance corps, firefighters, law enforcement, and public officials in our area. The congregation of Grace Baptist and friends in the area have been showing appreciation to community emergency responders for 20 years with these special Sundays.

For this special service, personnel from many departments were recognized: Fort Montgomery Fire Department, Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps, the Highland Falls Fire Department, the Town of Highlands, New York State Park Police and the Town of Highlands Police Department.

These guests were presented with a devotional book Stories of Faith and Courage From Firefighters & First Responders, and a commemorative 20th Annual Public Safety Sunday mug, to express gratitude for each one’s service.

Supervisor Bob Livsey designated Sunday, October 27, 2019, as ‘Public Safety Sunday’. This proclamation was printed in a previous week’s newspaper.

Pastor Snavely emphasized again the importance of showing support with encouraging words and, most importantly, the promise of prayer when first responders go out on a call. Guest speaker Rev. Ron DeGarde presented a message focusing on “the love of God and the rescue Christ provides from the penalty of sin and eternal reward of God’s presence”. The service concluded with an extensive luncheon for the 120 who attended, and the church family of Grace Baptist hopes these public servants will long remember the appreciation of the community and “our support in prayer”.
