Eugene J. Boleslawski

Eugene J. Boleslawski, 91, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

Born January 2, 1930, in Warsaw, Poland, Eugeniusz Jerzy Boleslawski was known to his colleagues, business partners, and the community as a man of great integrity, dignity, and charisma. Gifted with business acumen and foresight, along with a drive for perfection, he attained entrepreneurial success at an early age.

As a child, Eugene attended Warsaw’s St. Marianne School and later studied theater and architecture. Following in his father’s footsteps, Eugene immigrated to the United States where he became a hotelier.

Over the span of 4 decades, Eugene would own and operate hotels and motels in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. “Mr. B.”, as he was affectionately referred to by his employees, was known for the sincere appreciation and respect he showed for everyone who worked for him and for the dedication and loyalty that he received in return.

A discreet philanthropist, Eugene was a distinguished Rotarian. He co-founded the Rotary Club of West Point-Highland Falls in 1976 and, upon moving to Florida, became a proud member of the Rotary Club of Daytona Beach West.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents Jan Boleslawski and Eugenia Boleslawski and his mother-in-law Stefania Slomka. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Margaret; his son Tytus (Basia) of Hartsdale, NY; his daughter Ann Marie Palmer (William) and cherished grandsons Sebastian and Benedict, of Winter Park, FL; by his brother Janusz Boleslawski; and his father-in-law Zbigniew Slomka.

The funeral mass and burial were held at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania on November 29, 2021.

Joseph S. McCormick

September 13, 1940—January 17, 2022

Highland Falls, NY

Joseph S. McCormick passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Cort-landt Healthcare in Cortlandt, NY. He was 81 years old. Son of the late Francis T. and Irene B. Barttlet McCormick, he was born on September 13, 1940, in West Point, NY. 

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964, during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Joe then worked at Bear Mountain Inn, Jungle Habitat, the Bronx Zoo before he began his career as a Salesman for Mount Ellis and Perkins Paper of Tauton, MA. He was a very proud member of the Highland Falls Fire Department for 62 years, he was a member of the Orange County Republican Committee and former Chairman. Joe loved Highland Falls being born and raised here and raising his own family here. Joe dedicated much of his free time committed to doing what he felt was best for Highland Falls.  He served as the Town of Highlands Councilman, Supervisor and Village Trustee, a former member of the Highland Falls Lions Club, and lastly on the Zoning and Planning Board for the Town of Highlands. 

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Katherine McCormick of Highland Falls, NY; children: Amy Belladone and her husband, Joseph of Highland Falls, NY; Beth Feldman and her husband, Don of Highland Falls, NY; Joe McCormick, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Long Beach, CA; and Latasha McCormick of Highland Falls, NY; brother, David “Turkey” McCormick and his wife, Joanne of Highland Falls, NY; and his beloved grandchildren: Kendall Bryn, Alyssa Rose, Donald Joseph, Kevin Joseph, Tahiem Joseph, Mollie Elisabeth, Joseph Michael, Lukas James, Kate Olivia, Collin Jack, and Kenneth Edward. In addition to his parents, Joe was also predeceased by his brother, Bert F. McCormick and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls, NY 10928. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls, NY 10928. Interment followed at Eagle Valley Cemetery, Town of Highlands, NY.
