Reduce your water usage

It shows how the water level is down in the water body that serves as the village's and (much of) the town's water supply.

Bog Meadow level continues to drop

The Bog Meadow Reservoir, which provides municipal water to all of Highland Falls and parts of Fort Montgomery, has dropped from 52 percent capacity on Sept. 21 to 47 percent capacity on Sept. 28, according to Mayor Joe D’onofrio.

“I’m worried, because I’m not seeing too much rain in the immediate future,” he said, noting that last week he asked that residents please stop watering their lawns, washing their cars and filling their pools. He asks the same again this week.

“If this dry period continues we will have to enter the next stage of the Environmental Protection Agency’s recommendations for droughts,” the mayor said. “Please be careful. This really isn’t normal for us this time of year.”

According to the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation, “There are no statewide mandatory water use restrictions in place under a drought watch, but residents are strongly encouraged to voluntarily conserve water. Local public water suppliers may require conservation measures, depending upon local needs and conditions.”
