Holy Innocents will again provide meals

This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner provided by Holy Innocents Church in Highland Falls is going to look a little different.

“It needs to function in a different way,” Rev. Judy Ferguson said this week.

“People who usually come to Holy Innocents Church for take-out meals, the sit-down dinner or have meals delivered to them will need to call the church at 446-2197, sometime between Oct. 9 and Nov. 9, saying that they want to reserve the traditional foods and turkey in which to cook their own Thanks-giving meal or family dinner,” Ferguson said this week.

Then, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, people who have reserved food and a turkey will gather outside Holy Innocents’ parish hall on Church Street to pick up their bags of food and turkey.

If people cannot cook their own meal due to illness, disability or not having a kitchen to cook in, they can still reserve the food and turkey, and find someone else to cook the meal for them; or if needed, Holy Innocents can link that person up with someone who will cook the meal for them.

“Please call us at 446-2197, between Oct. 9 and Nov. 9 to reserve your Thanksgiving food and turkey,” Ferguson said. “Please leave your name, phone number, how many people you are cooking for, and if you need someone to cook the food for you. You must be on the reservation list in order to receive the Thanksgiving Dinner bags of food and turkey on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Those who don’t need a meal, but are willing to prepare a meal for someone else — an individual or an entire family — are asked to reach out to Holy Innocents, again, at 446-2197.

Monetary donations are also needed to provide the food and turkeys. Please send and make checks out to Holy Innocents Church, P. O. Box 116, Highland Falls, NY 10928; and write on the memo line: Thanksgiving Community Dinner.

“Many thanks,” Ferguson said. “Many thanks.”
