It is with heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Darlene “Boots” Drechsler. She passed away at her home in Susquehanna, Penn. on Saturday, May 9, 2020 surrounded by family.
Darlene was born April 5, 1932 in Cornwall to Joseph “Joe” & Elizabeth “Betty” Dillon formerly of Highland Falls.
She attended Sacred Heart School and Highland Falls High School where she became a majorette. Her career journey began at Bear Mountain with her mom Betty. Next, owner of the Lamplight Restaurant. Then she was a cafeteria manager at Albertus Magnus High School, followed by working at the Special Prosecutor Office for Medicaid fraud. Finally, she retired from Hotel Thayer as director of sales.
Darlene found her true love Carl Drechsler whom she was married to for 37 years. During their marriage they traveled extensively throughout the world and wintered their retirement years in San Felipe, Baja Mexico.
Darlene will be truly missed by her loving husband Carl; and children Nancy Ziemer, Betty Jo Ziemer, Richard (Theresa) Ziemer, Brian Ziemer; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
During her career, she developed lasting friendships that followed throughout her lifetime. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile; as well as her kind and soothing way of comforting family and friends. She was a woman of strong religious faith; especially her admiration of Saint Anthony. Darlene was a lady of style and grace who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Due to the public health concerns of Coronavirus, a celebration of life will held at a later date. An announcement will be published.
