Planning has begun for the annual community Christmas dinner, sponsored by Sacred Heart Parish. The meal is, Coordinator Chris Byrnes said, “for the purpose of sharing peace on earth and good will towards all community residents”.
The dinner is held on Christmas Day in the Sacred Heart gymnasium. It provides “a loving and caring place” where community members can come and enjoy great food and good company”.
While the goal is for all to come and eat together, with meals beginning at noon, take outs are also available. Home-bound residents can have a meal delivered if necessary.
Right now, planning is underway. The dinner committee is requesting donations of fully cooked turkeys, and baked brownies, cookies or other desserts and/or monetary donations.
To donate, contact Byrnes at 845-742-0196 or mail your donation to Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St. Highland Falls, NY 10928. (If you send a check, please put ‘Christmas Dinner’ in the memo line.)
Turkeys and desserts can be dropped of at the school on Sunday, Dec. 22 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.; Monday, Dec. 23 between 5 and 7 p.m.; or on Tuesday Dec. 24 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
