If you aren’t registered to vote, you’ll have the opportunity on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when Highland Falls’ Sara Kelley will spend her day registering voters in front of MyTown Market.
She’s celebrating ‘National Voter Registration Day’ by volunteering her time to do this, she said, and hopes others will do the same.
National Voter Registration Day was first observed in 2012 and has been growing in popularity every year since. It’s always held on the fourth Tuesday of September and has been endorsed by the National Association of Secretaries of State and other national agencies.
“It would be awesome if more volunteers were available to add more locations on that day. It was very easy to create the event on the National Voter Registration website,” Kelley said. “The more volunteers the more successful this celebration will be.”
She suggested the Fort Montgomery Post Office as another potential location for a volunteer to set up.
“I plan on being at MyTown Market all day,” she said, “from 8:30 a.m. until after the dinner rush. I’ll have my laptop in case anyone has a question about their registration.”
Kelley can be reached at 845-300-9215 for more information.
