On Sunday, April 28, the Highland Falls Library will open its doors for a special event — three ‘local’ storytellers will be on hand for a panel discussion about their work and craft.
The event is free and open to the public.
Allison and Owen Pataki, two of the children of former governor George Pataki, and Beatrice Copeland, an O’Neill High School graduate, will be at the library from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All three grew up in Garrison.
Allison Pataki is the New York Times bestselling author of The Traitor’s Wife, The Accidental Empress, Sisi: Empress on her Own, Where the Light Falls, and the nonfiction memoir Beauty in Broken Places. A former news writer and producer, she has written for The New York Times, ABC News, The Huffington Post, USA Today, Fox News and other outlets, and has appeared on numerous television news and entertainment shows. Beatrice Copeland is a filmmaker who has written and directed several short films, including Erstwhile, which was filmed in her hometown and played at the Cannes Film Festival in France. She is currently adapting Allison Pataki’s memoir, Beauty in Broken Places, for the screen. She also develops, directs and hosts video content for brands including clients like Adidas, Fitbit, Ford and Yoplait. She hosts a weekly (Tuesdays at 6 p.m.) show called Cheddar@Home, which explores the home industry for millennials. She’s on Instagram @beatrice_copeland and her website is www.beatricecopeland.com.
Owen Pataki graduated from Cornell University in 2010 with a degree in history. He served as a first lieutenant in the US Army, with one deployment to Afghanistan. Following his military service, he attended film school in London, and his first novel was published in 2017. He now lives in New York, where he is working as a screenwriter/filmmaker and writing a second novel.
