Banners are now for sale

Purchase before March 30

If you are planning to purchase a Military Tribute banner for the 2019 season, now is the time to order it, especially if you have strong feelings about whether or not it hangs in Highland Falls versus Fort Montgomery.

The banner sales program has started, organizer Kat Dagaev told the Chamber of Commerce last week, and about 18 orders are already in. They have room to hang about 75.

The first year of the banner program was 2018, and nearly every utility pole on Main St. in Highland Falls and Rt. 9W in Fort Montgomery was filled.

The banners are four feet by two feet and feature a patriotic display with a veteran’s photo, military service career and the name of those who purchased or donated the banner. Living or deceased veterans can be honored.

Those who don’t have a picture to use can still order one, and those who want multiple family members on one banner can be accommodated.

The cost of each banner is $150. They will fly from Memorial Day through Veterans Day and then be returned to the purchaser. Sales end March 30, Dagaev said. To order, visit highlandschamberofcommerce.com and follow the link to the banner sales, or call Dagaev at 845-520-0137. She is also willing to help those place banner orders who don’t use or have trouble with the online site, she said.
