The organizers of the 2019 March Mania basketball tournament — The Center, the Hudson Valley Womens Association & Friends and the Town of Highlands Recreation Department — are looking for three things from the community right now.
The tournament will be held over two weekends, March 8 & 9 and 15 & 16.
The first is for children in fifth through eighth grades to sign up to play. Cost is $20 per player which includes a t-shirt and skills clinic. Register in the Recreation office in Town Hall (254 Main St.) Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or online at www.highlands-ny.gov. Registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 22, with no late registrations.
The second is for adult teams to sign up for an adult round of play. New this year, it will be for players 18 and older who have a team sponsored by a local businesses. Teams need between five and eight players and the cost is $20 per player.
Third, they are looking for local businesses, individuals and groups to help sponsor the tournament by purchasing ads for the tournament program. Cost is $10 for business card size, $25 for a half page and $50 for full page ads.
