It’s now operated by MWR

When Long Pond opens this Saturday, it will be the first time it’s under the operation of West Point’s MWR (Morale, Welfare & Recreation).

There will be some slight changes in daily operations, including some things which are expected to go over well with patrons of the lakefront recreation area, like boat rentals.

As usual, Long Pond will be open only on weekends until schools close in June.

From the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through June 16, the area is open Saturdays & Sundays only, with the park opening at 10 a.m., and beach area open from 11a.m. – 5 p.m.

Beginning June 17 and continuing through September 2, the park will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week.

To visit Long Pond, patrons must purchase a daily pass, punch card or season family splash pass at the administration check-in near the beach entrance or at the MWR Fitness Center prior to visiting.

Pricing is:

Daily Visits: $5 for ages 14 and up; $4 for ages 3-13, E1 – E6 and cadets; and free for children age 2 and under.

Punch Cards: $46 for 12 punches, ages 14 and up; $36 for 12 punches, ages 3-13, E1 – E6 and cadets; and free for children age 2 and under.

2019 Season Family Splash Pass: $80, up to eight immediate family members on one pass.

In addition to fees to get in Long Pond, there are a few other things that you can pay to use.

Boat rentals will be available from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. for ages 16-plus. Paddle boats rentals are $4 for 30 minutes or $6 for 60 minutes. Row Boats are $6 for 60 minutes or $30 per day day, due in by 5 p.m. The rental fee includes oars and PFD.

The pavilion is available to rent from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. , at a cost of $100/day. Rental is through the Round Pond main office at 938-2503.
