Jim (James Joseph) McCormack

December 5, 1937—April 9, 2024

Fort Montgomery, NY

Jim McCormack passed away on April 9, 2024, at the age of 86, after 66 years at his home in Fort Montgomery. He was born on December 5, 1937, in Palestine, Texas, to Joseph and Mary McCormack (Nugent). The proud widower of Mary McCormack, his lifelong wife and friend.

Jim retired from LJ Kennedy Trucking after 27 years and then from Ryder Trucking after another 10 years.  In estimation, Jim drove more than five million miles in his lifetime.  He was a proud Veteran, Little League Coach, father figure to many, and friend of the community.

He was a terrific father and grandfather, and will be remembered forever by his children, Jesse McCormack and his wife Kim of Lloyd Harbor, NY; and Lorianne Bell and her husband Brian of Accord, NY; and by his beloved grandchildren: Austin, Emily, Samantha, and Lucas. Jim was beloved by many friends, neighbors, and co-workers. He enjoyed spending time on sports fields, car races, camping, and gatherings with his friends and grandkids. We are sure his love for life continues and he is now reunited with Mary in heaven.

As per Jim’s wishes, there will be no wake, but the family will hold a luncheon to honor Jim and thank his friends for all the years of friendship and support.

Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.  Memorial contributions may be to the American Lung Society in Jim’s Honor.
