On Saturday evening, members, community residents and fire officials from all over the region were on hand at the fire house to celebrate the HFFD’s 100th anniversary, as well as the ceremonial installation of the department’s current officers.
There have been several short periods in recent months when Highland Falls residents have taken to social media to show pictures of the brown water coming from the faucets in their village homes.
For the 97th year in a row, the Highland Falls Fire Department has sworn in it’s newest officers, and handed out awards to those department members who went ‘above and beyond’ in 2018.
Joe Gill will retire on March 29 after serving for many years as the vice president and general manager of the News of the Highlands — the company that publishes The News of the Highlands and its sister paper, The Cornwall Local.
