Soldier arrested for child porn distribution

A staff sergeant apparently stationed at West Point has been arrested for distributing child pornography.

Federal officials reported on Thursday that Patrick Edwin Gorychka, 37, of New Windsor, conversed with undercover agents in online chat rooms, where discussion included his willingness to pay for an introduction to preteens, according to a White Plains federal court complaint. He also allegedly sent an undercover agent numerous images and videos containing children engaged in sex acts.

He appeared in federal court on Wednesday and was released on bail. He’s charged with one count of distribution and receipt of child pornography, and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
