If you walk into the Highland Falls Library’s Community Room in the weeks ahead, please note that the photographs on the walls are the work of David Nicholls (l) and Karen Parashkevov (r) Nicholls’ images fall under the theme ‘Les Parisiens’. “Paris is one of the most beloved cities in Europe, and has been a Mecca for artists, writers, and tourists for centuries. Its monuments and museums are world-famous, but, as is the case with any major tourist venue, the city has a ‘real-life’ side to it where the permanent residents go about their daily business. It is this aspect that I have tried to demonstrate in these photographs,” he said. About her images, Parashkevov said: “These artistically captured and edited images are my photographic conceptual interpretations of the world around me on a given day. The photos are either single shots using various unique photographic techniques or a composite of multiple images. The intent is to transform the world we see into an unexpected image to evoke emotions, ideas and impressions.” The pictures will be on display through Friday, August 9.
