Joseph B. Gallagher passed away on July 7, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. He was 89 years old. Son of the late Bernard and Alma (Ross) Gallagher, he was born on July 24, 1934, in Cornwall, NY.
Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. After his discharge, Joseph worked as a Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Officer in Bear Mountain, NY, and an NYS Trooper with Troop F in West Nyack, NY. He was a lifelong resident of Highland Falls, attending Sacred Heart School and Highland Falls High School. He was a dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Highland Falls, NY.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary Gallagher of Highland Falls, NY; sons: Jude Gallagher of Latham, NY, and Luke Gallagher along with his wife Dania of Washingtonville, NY; grandchildren: Claire, Grace, and Vivian; sister Helen Bosch of Highland Falls; brother-in-law David Rose of Cornwall, NY; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was also predeceased by his sisters Alma, Kay, and Gloria; and brother-in-laws John Bosch and James Mahan.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY 10928. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY 10928.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY, and a private burial at a later date.
