Elaine Katherine (Hollingshead) Baker, 93, of Winter Street, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Home in Tilton, NH.
Elaine was born on July 15, 1931, in West Point, NY, the daughter of the late William F. Hollingshead and Margaret (Jeheber) Hollingshead. She lived in Highland Falls, NY until the ‘60’s, where she then moved her family to Laconia/ Gilford, NH, areas.
She was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, which she served for 4 years. Elaine worked as a receptionist at the Laconia Clinic. She enjoyed puzzles and playing games. She loved baking around the holidays with her daughter Karen and handing out the goodies that she made to everyone she knew; friends, family, the mailmen, and anyone she thought could use some extra sweetness. Elaine enjoyed singing and was a member of various choirs throughout the years. Elaine loved her grandchildren and would boast about them and their adventures to anyone who would listen. Elaine was very active within the NH Veterans Home serving on boards to better the lives of all residents.
Elaine is survived by her daughter Karen Shepard; son Stephen Baker and his partner Nina Dalpozzal; son Edward A. Baker; grandchildren Kristofer Shepard (wife Kaitlyn), Jonathan Baker and Carly Anne Baker, Harrison Baker; and several nieces and nephews. Elaine is predeceased by her ex-husband and father of her children, Edward C. Baker; brothers William Hollingshead, Richard Hollingshead; sister Diane McCue; and son-in-law Stanley Shepard.
Calling Hours were held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
Burial with military honors was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.

Carole J. Mastromarino of Highland Falls, NY, passed away on June 9, 2024 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY. She was 67 years old. The daughter of the late Mary (Barrett) and Harry Krauss, she was born in France on April 11, 1957.
Carole worked as a receptionist for Medical Supply Co. in Nyack, NY.
Left to cherish Carole’s memory are her devoted husband Fred Mastromarino, at home in Highland Falls, NY; her brother Richard Krauss and his wife Pat of West Haverstraw, NY; her sisters: Joan Krauss of Stony Point, NY, and Janet Kruszewsky and her husband Michael of Daytona Beach, FL; and her nephew Richard Krauss of Vails Gate, NY.
Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. with a Chapel Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.
