Anna M Policastri, a resident of Gypsum, Colorado passed away on September 18th at Castle Peak Long Term Care in Eagle, CO. Anna was born on August 23, 1926.
Anna was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Lieutenant Colonel Louis M Policastri, her siblings, Pauline, Theresa, Bernadette, Anthony, Orlando, Dominick, and Rose Marie.
She is survived by her daughter Roseanne and husband Wayne Cassidy of Gypsum, Colorado, Her daughter Paula Steele of Fairfax, Virginia. Her granddaughter Laura and her husband Stephen Anzalone of Eagle, Colorado; Her grandson Michael and his wife Amy Cassidy of Williamsville, New York; Her two great grand daughters Charlotte Rose and Audrey Clair Anzalone. Her niece Nancy Arietta of Fishersville, Virginia; Her niece Janet Reres of Brooklyn, New York; Her niece Marie Reres of High Bridge New Jersey. Her lifelong companions, brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Barbara Policastri of Northvale, New Jersey; and many nephews and nieces who also survive her.
She was a data processor at World-Wide Volkswagen of America, Orangeburg, New York. After retiring, she became a volunteer docent at the Warner House Museum, on Constitution Island, West Point, New York. She served at Keller Army Hospital, United States Military Academy. She volunteered at the American Red Cross Blood Drives, and served as a docent at Museum Village, Monroe, New York.
In 2007, Anna became a resident of Gypsum, Colorado. While residing in Gypsum, she continued her love for volunteering at the Shaw Cancer Center, the Eagle Valley Historical Museum, the Hospice of the Valley, as well as crocheting blankets for hospitals and local organizations at the Golden Eagle Senior Center.
Anna was awarded Vail Volunteer of the year in 2015.
She had a lively personality, a keen mind, and a strong spirit. She will be missed but always remembered.
Her remains will be interred and placed with her husbands at Eagle Valley Cemetery, Highland Falls, New York on October 10th 2023.
A service will be held at the gravesite.
