Dana T. Fortino

Dana T. Fortino passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at his home in Highland Falls, NY. He was 66 years old.
Son of the late Paul J. Fortino and Joyce A. Newell Fortino, Dana was born on February 12, 1957, in Cornwall, NY. He was a Painter’s Apprentice for Local #831 Sign, Scene, Pictorial Artists and Decorators in El Monte, California from 1984 to 1994. Some of his most notable projects were the Gene Autry Museum – Los Angeles, CA, the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum – Yorba Linda, CA, and the California Wine Museum – Petaluma, CA. Upon returning to Highland Falls in 1994, Dana took on his most cherished job of being Mr. Mom.
Dana was a “collector” who started at a young age roaming the area dumps with his grandfather, Harry Newell. This led to his lifelong quest of collecting anything antique – furniture, glass, jewelry, textiles – toward his dream of opening an antique shop.
Dana was a warrior during his long illness that started in 2010 and was an inspiration to many. He always had a joke and smile for his fellow warriors, doctors, and nurses.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Anderson Fortino, at home; daughter, Alyssa; son, Robert; and future son-in-law, Jacob Stevens (Alyssa), all of Highland Falls, NY; brothers, Mark Fortino of Austin, TX, Scot Fortino of West Covina, CA, and half-brother David Fortino of Lincoln, ME; his Aunt Dolly Vanzetta of Highland Falls; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul A. Fortino.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.

Mary Carmel McCormack
May 31, 1941—August 9, 2023
Fort Montgomery, NY
Mary Carmel McCormack passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023, at the age of 82 at her home in Fort Montgomery. She was born on May 31, 1941, in Manhattan, NY to proud Irish parents, Martin and Beatrice (Egan) Nohilly. Mary was the oldest of 5 children and was proud to grow up in and be from The Throgs Neck section of the Bronx.
Mary retired as a Legal Secretary for the SJA, United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. She was a proud member of Sacred Heart and Blessed Sacrament Church, the Happy Hookers Sewing Club, and spent many years as President of the Highland Falls Little League and the “team mother” for the USMA Equestrian Team.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband James Jim McCormack of Fort Montgomery, NY; Children: Jesse McCormack and his wife, Kim of Lloyd Harbor, NY; and Lorianne Bell and her husband, Brian of Accord, NY; and by her beloved grandchildren: Austin, Emily, Samantha, and Lucas. siblings: James Nohilly of New Britain, CT and Ann Nelson of Lake Carmel, NY; She will also be remembered with love by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mary was also predeceased by her brothers: William and Brendan Nohilly.
Mary was beloved by many friends, neighbors and co-workers. She enjoyed spending time at concerts at West Point, gardening, sewing and, most importantly, spending time with friends and family. Her love for life and boundless energy endeared her to everyone she met.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls, NY 10928. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 19 Theresia Way, Fort Montgomery, NY 10922.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.
