William J. Baran

February 19, 1957—April 30, 2023

Highland Falls, NY

William J. Baran, 66, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 in Newburgh, NY.   William was the son of the late Paul P. Baran and the late Louise F. Ramus Baran and was born in Cornwall, NY on February 19, 1957.   He was predeceased by his wife Roxanne Mamalis Baran, his brother Paul F. Baran and his sister Mary Ann Trent.

Survivors include his sister Patricia Baran Bliss and his brother Kevin Baran, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Willie spent several years working on gas/oil rigs before settling back in Highland Falls to run his own successful painting business.  He was always the life of the party which likely began when he hitchhiked to Woodstock in 1969 as a 12 year old boy, unbeknownst to his parents.  Willie enjoyed spending time in his garden, canning his vegetables, kayaking, and was a proud American as you could tell from the massive American flag that he painted on the side of his house.  It wasn’t until later in life that he found the love of his life Roxanne who would soon become his wife.  They cherished their time with each other, family and friends and enjoyed their annual trips up north to Lake Champlain.  Willie was a kind soul that would do anything to help out a friend in need and will be sorely missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing “Billy Bone”.

William was cremated at the Cedar Hill Cemetery & Mausoleum, 5468 Route 9W North, Newburgh, NY.  He will be interred at Cedar Hill on Saturday, May 13, 2023 after a ceremony at Cedar Hill at 10:30 a.m.
