Helen Gunza passed away on January 29, 2023, in Cortlandt Manor, NY. She was 89 years old. Daughter of the late Frank and Bessie (Pappas) Lilos, she was born on September 21, 1933, in Highland Falls, NY and was a lifelong resident.
Helen was a Logistic Purchasing Agent for Keller Army Hospital in West Point, NY. for 30 years and was a long time employee of Schade’s Restaurant in Highland Falls, NY which she enjoyed very much. Helen was a member of the Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps having served over 500 calls, and was a recipient of the Mayor’s Women of Distinction Award given by Mayor D’Onofrio in 2003.
She is survived by her sister Carol Hurst of Highland Falls, NY; and by several nieces and nephews. She is especially going to be missed by her nephew Frank Lilos and his family along with their dog Cooper whom Helen was so very fond of. In addition to Helen’s parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings: Michael Lilos and Marion Steele.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with a Service beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls, NY. Interment will follow at Eagle Valley Cemetery in Town of Highlands, NY.
