Harry Wilbert “Will” Lewis

November 9, 1935—December 7, 2022

Highland Falls, NY

Harry Wilbert (Will) Lewis, a lifelong resident of Highland Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2022, with loving family by his side. The son of Harry and Marie (Gibney) Lewis, he was born November 9, 1935 in Cornwall, NY.

Wilbert was proud to have served honorably in the US Army, 3rd Infantry Division. He was employed at the United States Military Academy, initially as a bus driver with the Army Athletic Association, and then with the Department of Public Works, retiring in 1998 as a Pneumatics Control Mechanic. Upon retirement, he enjoyed driving a school bus for the next 14 years. Wilbert was a life member of Highland Falls Fire Department, having served proudly for 35 years.

Wilbert was extremely dedicated to his family and enjoyed working on cars, fishing, and sitting by the river watching the trains go by. He was a patient, kind, loving, devoted, and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.  

In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, Suzanne (Redner), Wilbert is survived by four amazing daughters and their families: Kimberly Lewis (Larry Porter) and their son, Matthew, of Highland Falls; Kathleen Pickens (Keith) and their children Wyatt (Cheyenne), Jake, and Taylor Pickens of Wake Forest, NC; Margaret Hoder (Jeffrey) and their children, Emily, Ryan, and Lyla of Apex, NC; and Jennifer Lewis of Cary, NC and her daughter, Devon, of Highland Falls. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Dorothy Morgan and Helen Parker; and brothers James, Richard, and George.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 -7:00 p.m., December 13, 2022, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., December 14, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, followed by interment at Eagle Valley Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilbert’s memory may be made to the Highland Falls Fire Department or the Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps.

Donna M. (Bagnell) Steinmetz 

August 7, 1951—December 10, 2022

Highland Falls, NY

Donna M. Steinmetz, a lifelong resident of Highland Falls, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with MS.  She was 71 years old.  Donna entered into eternal rest at St. Luke’s hospital, Newburgh, NY.  She was the daughter of John and Florence Bagnell.  She was born August 7, 1951 in South Weymouth, MA.

Donna retired from the United State Military Academy at West Point, NY after 30 years of Civil Service.

She is survived by her husband John of 45 years.  Her step-son Lee Steinmetz, his wife Patty and their children, Cortney, Amanda and Lee.  Her daughter, Jennifer Hurst, her husband David and their children Zachary and Madison.  Two sisters, Patricia Petersen of Hayden, ID, Sheila Klusacek of Brownville NY and a brother, John M. Bagnell, Jr. of Ten Mile, TN along with an aunt, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or services.  Interment will be at Eagle Valley Cemetery, Highland Falls, NY.
