The Board of Education tended to several personnel matters at its meeting on June 1.
First, they approved a $140 a day of additional compensation for Acting Superintendent of Schools Michael McElduff due to “the significant additional job responsibilities and workload increase”. He was appointed to the position on May 18, and is expected to remain it through the end of the school year as Superintendent Dr. Frank Sheboy deals with a medical issue.
The board also appointedNancy Noonan, as acting principal of O’Neill High School, at a per diem rate of $650 per day, from May 31 until the return of Principal Robin Haberman, who is out with a medical issue.
In other matters:
— Nicole Yorgensen was appointed as a full time, attendance aide at the high school.
— Summer academy instructors, teacher aides, and school nurse were appointed, for the July 12 – August 4 summer school period.
Instructors are: Kerian Allen-Sewell, Nicole Bernard, Christine Castellano, Lauren Cope, Dora Dalgoutte, Hannah Early, AnnMarie Flynn, Sean Lubbers, Nicole Monda, Kendra Moulton, Kayla Nannariello, Dalilah Quinones, Andrea Saladino, Caitlin Sliwinski, Megan Stacklum, Michael Vernola, Lauren Whittemore, and Lyndsey Whittemore. Teacher aides are: Claudia Beuchert, Kelly Douglass, Yerelin Polanco and Nancy Santini. School nurse is Margaret Moscatello.
— The board created a ful-time American Sign Language teacher position, effective July 1, 2022.
— The resignations of high school math teacher Ashley Liatsis, high school Spanish teacher Kathleen Feldi and high school teacher Olivia Payne.
