Mark D. Brigham

November 24, 1951—February 1, 2022

Fort Montgomery, New York

Mark D Brigham entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2022 after valiant three year battle with cancer. He was 70 years old. Son of Durward and Marion (Jensen) Brigham, he was born on November 24, 1951, in New London, Conn.

A 1973 graduate of  West Point, he proudly served in the army for 21 years, reaching the rank of LT. Colonel. His journey in the army started with 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, followed by assignments in Ft Sill (Oklahoma), Fort Leavenworth (Kansas), Korea, Germany, and two tours teaching English at the United States Military Academy. After his discharge from the army, he was Director of Business Services for New York Catholic Charites. He always said that he enjoyed both jobs immensely and never considered work a burden.

From the time he was a young officer to his older years, he always found opportunities to serve the church. At St. Ann’s in Fayetteville, NC he helped build the church hall each Saturday morning.  At Sacred Heart, he taught 5th grade religious education, RCIA classes, and was lector and Eucharistic minister. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club where he arranged guest speakers each month.

Mark is survived by his wife of 48 years MaryAnn, his beloved son Dominic, and daughter in Law Marilyn and his delightful grandson Andrew, his brothers Jace, and Craig (Wife Beth). His brother Steve (Wife Cindy) predeceased him in October 2021.

He had cousins, nieces, friends who loved him but especially his cousins Debbie and Paul Baker who assisted him tremendously in these final years when he was sick. His absence has left a large hole in our hearts. Go forth gentle kind man into your just reward.

Funeral Services will be at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main Street, Highland Falls, NY 10928 at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, February 11, 2022, followed by interment at West Point Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
