Carmelina Messina passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at her residence in Fort Montgomery, NY. She was 68 years old. Daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Comita Aramini, she was born on March 24, 1953 in Sorbo San Basile, Italy.
Carmelina was a Tax Receiver for the Town of Highlands, Highland Falls, NY.
Survivors include her loving husband of 39 years, Vito Messina of Fort Montgomery, NY, her children: Jamie Nolte of Fort Montgomery, NY and Anthony Messina and his partner Jessica Newman of Louisville, KY; her sisters: Rosa Corigliano and her husband Vince of Walden, NY; Maria Kelly of W. Palm Beach, FL; Ida Tangen of Seattle, WA; Anna Tiernan and her husband Terry of Doylestown, PA; and Giovanna Aramini of Italy and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Giovanni Aramini, her aunt, Rosina Comita and her uncle Joseph Chiarella.
Enthusiastic about her Italian heritage, Carmelina and her daughter loved tracing their family roots on Ancestry.com and were able to reconnect with several relatives in Italy this way.
She was an avid animal lover, especially basset hounds, and loved lavender, hearts, and reading. One of her favorite quotes was “Simplify simplify simplify.”
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls, NY, 10928.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.
