June 29, 2020
Formerly Highland Falls
Marjorie Elaine Edwards (née Bauer) of New Windsor, N.Y., former longtime resident of Highland Falls, N.Y., passed away after a brief illness on June 29, 2020 in North Creek, N.Y. Announcement of her passing and date of service was postponed due to the Covid-19 crisis.
Daughter of the late Fred and Loretta Bauer, stepdaughter of Alberta Bauer, Marjorie was born in Haverstraw, N.Y. and graduated from Haverstraw High School. Marjorie married William E. Edwards, who predeceased her in 1991. ‘Marge and Bill’ made their home in the Highland Falls area, raising their four loving children: Steven of Warrensburg, N.Y., Charles and his wife Linda of Johnston, R.I., Elizabeth, and her husband Josef of Valparaiso, I.N., and William and his fiancée Dawn Lent of Highland Falls, N.Y.
Marjorie is survived by her loving sister Patricia Scherer of Stony Point, N.Y., grandchildren Aaron and Ryan, Crystal and Ashley, and Kim and Kayla. She was predeceased by three brothers: Fred, Albert, and Robert Bauer. A very caring, dedicated, and energetic woman, Marge took great pride in not only raising her children, but also in her volunteer services at the Cornwall Hospital, at her churches in both H.F. and N.W., working with developmentally disabled folks and, perhaps most proudly, her volunteer service with Units 633 and 1796 of the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as the 1796 Unit President in 2006.
A graveside service will be held on Friday May 14, 2021 at 1pm at the Peacedale Cemetery, Dale Avenue, Highland Falls, N.Y. In case of inclement weather, a tent will be provided for attendees by the William F. Hogan Funeral Home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a memorial donation be made to The American Cancer Society.
