James “Jimmy” Ranieri, Jr.

March 13, 2021

Formerly Highland Falls

It is with great sadness that the family of James “Jimmy” Ranieri, Jr. shares his passing on Saturday, March 13, 2021, after his courageous battle with cancer. Jimmy was 47 years old, and was surrounded in love by his family and friends in The Villages, Florida.

Jimmy will forever be remembered for his infectious smile, devotion to and appreciation for his family and friends, and most of all, his love of life, which has left us with a valuable lesson to live by: never take a day for granted. His smile, laughter, and endless energy will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Jimmy had a love for the sun, exercise, casinos, and sports. He worked for many years installing running tracks for schools all over the country.

Jimmy was a ’92 graduate of James I. O’Neill High School where he excelled at three sports, and a ’98 graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. Some of his sports accomplishments at KWU include his role as kicker/punter, earning him an All-Conference honorable mention in ’93; first team All-Conference of ’94; first team NAIA Div. II All-American punter, posting the second-highest punting average in all college divisions behind former NFL punter Todd Sauerbrun. In soccer: ’96 team co-captain and honorable mention All-Conference for the Conference Champion Coyotes. Jimmy was elected to the KWU Sports Hall of Fame twice: once for soccer, and once for football.

Jimmy is survived by his mother Doris Forestieri of The Villages, FL; his father James Ranieri, Sr. (Lee Ann) of Highland Falls, NY; his brothers Tony Ranieri (Teresa) of Tarrytown, NY, and Nick Ranieri of the Villages, FL; his stepbrothers Kevin Forestieri (Theresa), Sean Forestieri (Tina), Tom Koziak (Kristen), and Dan Koziak (Jillian); along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held in New York at a later date. Jimmy’s family would like to thank all who knew and loved him for their continued support, love, and prayers during his very difficult time. He will be forever missed in our daily lives, and we ask everyone to simply live, laugh, and love as a way to honor his life so that his legacy and memories can live on in each of us.
