Walter J. Bunn, age 90, a lifelong resident of Highland Falls, passed away peacefully in his home on March 5, 2021.
He was a graduate of Highland Falls High School where he played both basketball and football. He later went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. He was a retired member of the Boilermakers Local Lodge 5.
“Walt”, as he was known to his friends, had a heart of gold and will be missed by many. He will be laid to rest in the Veteran’s cemetery in Crownsville, Md.

Francis J. DeFrancesco passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. He was 74 years old.
Son of the late John B. DeFrancesco and Mathilda Huszer DeFrancesco, he was born on February 22, 1947 in Brooklyn. He was the widower of Patricia A. McClurg DeFrancesco.
Francis was a retired Lab Technologist at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He also served as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #17 in New Windsor and Troop #24 in Highland Falls, and was a volunteer at Storm King Art Center in Cornwall.
Survivors include his son, John M. DeFrancesco & his wife Elizabeth of Newburgh; daughters, Gabrielle T. Ennis & her husband Thomas of Bemus Point, New York, Elizabeth J. DeFrancesco & her husband Alvaro Portilla of Highland Falls, and Patricia L. Sullivan of Monroe; sister, Lucy G. DeFrancesco of Queens; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, John A. DeFrancesco.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 5-8 P.M. at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Eagle Valley Cemetery in the Town of Highlands.
