Mary “Moddy” Pimento passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021, at the New York State Firemen’s Home in Hudson, NY. She was 91 years old. Daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Ferreri) Castagna, she was born on October 6, 1929 in Highland Falls, NY.

Mary worked as a Records Clerk in the Classified Records Department at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls as well as a member of the Highland Falls Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

“Moddy” was loved by all who knew her, as she radiated love and kindness to everyone around her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She had a very fun-loving spirit and was known for her ability to overcome every obstacle that came her way with absolute grace. Her unwavering Christian faith, and time spent with family were nearest and dearest to her heart.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jo Blackmon of Highland Falls, NY; her grandchildren: Carly Miata and her husband Vinny, and Lindsay Brayda and her husband Stephen, and her great grandchildren: Copeland Brayda and Rosemary Miata. She was predeceased by her husband Jack Pimento, and her siblings: Concetto “Cungie” Castagna, Carmela De Luca and Josephine Federico.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls, NY 10928. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls, NY 10928. Interment will follow at Peacedale Cemetery.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be limited occupancy and we ask you to please adhere to the state regulations regarding face masks and distancing.
