Richard W. Solan, age 71, of Hermitage, Missouri passed away on August 24 at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach. He was born Dec. 28, 1948 in Brooklyn, the son of Lawrence Solan and Rita Conway Solan.
He retired as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in 1997 after 20-plus years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Maj. Douglas Ray Solan, and daughter, Tamulen Eulene Solan; and his sister Sharon Solan Tolliver.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Solan, at home, and six grandchildren. As well, he is survived by his brother Lawrence Solan of Cape May, NJ; John (Janice) Solan of Montgomery; and William (Colleen) Solan of Highland Falls.
Memorial graveside services with full military honors will be at a later date in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Fort Leonard Wood. Cremation was under the direction of Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home, Wheatland, Mo.
