Jaime P. Cote

March 6, 1964 – October 9, 2020

Highland Falls

Jaime P. Cote, of Highland Falls, entered into eternal rest on Oct. 9 at NY Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt. She was 56 years old.

The daughter of Joseph M. Santiago and Willoe B. Logan, Jaime was born on March 6, 1964 in Newburgh.  

Jaime was a retired secretary for DPTMS at the USMA at West Point. Throughout her life, her joy was taking care of and helping others. On top of raising three children, she participated as a Tiger and Cub Scout den mother, a caregiver to many children in the community and was an active member in rebuilding the Pop Warner football team in Highland Falls. Jaime loved her church scriptures, cooking, windchimes, and watching Christmas movies all year long.

In addition to her parents, Jaime is survived by her loving and devoted husband Andrew J. Cote at home; her sons Aric R. Cote of Orlando, Fla., Nicholas L. Cote & his girlfriend Anna Dinero of Red Bank, N.J.; Jacob W. Cote & his fiancée Patricia Seholm of Hyde Park; and her new granddaughter Leona Jean Cote. She is also survived by her uncles Phillip Santiago, Mark Santiago, Anthony Santiago and her sisters Amy Santiago and Meredith Santiago.

Jaime was predeceased by her sister Jean Santiago and her in-laws Leona H. and Arthur W. Cote.

Susan Hicking

October 16, 2020

formerly of Fort Montgomery

Susan Lucille Grady Hicking was born in West Point, New York to Lucille Lent Grady, and passed away in Augusta, Georgia on October 16, 2020 at 64 years old.

Susan came to Fort Montgomery from Florida at age nine, attended local schools, and graduated from James I. O’Neill High School. Her attendance at Roberts Wesleyan College led to a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Sue pursued her nursing career locally in Rochester, and also served the Department of Defense in Frankfort, Germany. Sue travelled many times for her career, first to West Point, then to Arizona, and finally to Georgia, where she completed a master’s in nursing at Georgia College while working at Autumn Care, a facility for disabled adults.

Susan was a member of the Fort Montgomery United Methodist Church. She was a loving and caring person who always looked for ways to help others. Sue will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her.

Susan was predeceased by her mother and brother John Stalter, nephew Aaron Stalter, and is survived by her husband Alex Hicking of Augusta, Georgia. She is also survived by a niece, a nephew, and several aunts, and uncles, and cousins. Her family would appreciate donations in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, her favorite charity.

Graveside services will be at Eagle Valley Cemetery on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 1 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

David M. Paul, Jr.

March 5, 1954 – October 12, 2020

Fort Montgomery

David M. Paul, Jr. passed away on Mon-day, October 12, 2020 at Good Sam-aritan Hospital in Suffern. He was 66 years old. Son of the late David M. Paul, Sr., and Altha Fraser Paul Warner, he was born on March 5, 1954 in Winthrop, Mass.

Dave worked at Kay Fries Chemical plant for many years and moved on to the International Chemical Workers Union. He later went on to 3D Trucking, which he owned and operated until his retirement. Dave had a great love of sports!  He was an umpire for Highland Falls Little League, softball official  with USSSA, volleyball official with NYSCVOA, basketball official with NYSPHSAA, football official with NYSACFO, scorekeeper and official for West Point MWR sports, scorekeeper for hockey and football for Army Athletics and president of softball umpires at West Point. Dave was a longstanding member of the North Rockland Social Club where he enjoyed spending time with great friends. Dave will be dearly missed by his many friends in the Fort Montgomery, Highland Falls communities.

Survivors include his loving wife Karen Cavanagh Paul at home; children Daniel Paul and wife, Lisa of Acworth, Ga.: David Paul of Highland Falls, and Jennifer Atkins and husband, David of Hoschton, Ga; his sister Donna Brownell and husband Kevin of Bluffton, SC; his grandchildren Anderson and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

A Chapel Service was held on October 16, at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls, with a Chapel Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Falls Ambulance Corps, 39 Main St., Highland Falls, NY 10928 or the Fort Montgomery Fire Department, 865 Rt. 9W, Fort Montgomery, NY 10922.

Nancy M. Vanzetta

June 9, 1948 – October 16, 2020

Brockport, NY

Nancy M. Vanzetta of Brockport passed away peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the age of 72, after a valiant 10-year struggle with breast cancer.

She was predeceased by her parents William and Eileen McBean as well as her grandparents, Henry (Clara) Wrobel and Curtis (Etta) Judson. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jim; her daughter Kim (Jim) Nealon; grandchildren Nicholas and Nadia Nealon; brothers Stewart (Edie) McBean and Brett (Chris) McBean; sister-in-law Christine Armstrong of Fort Montgomery; several nieces, nephews; and many dear friends.

Nancy was the assistant director of financial aid for SUNY Brockport, the director of financial aid for Finger Lakes Community College, and a financial aid consultant. She also was the regional chairperson of NYS Financial Aid Administrators Association and president of SUNY Financial Aid Administrators. Nancy selflessly volunteered at Lakeside Memorial Hospital and Elderwood of Lakeside at Brockport.
