Hans Schabel passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt. He was 91 years old.
Son of the late Johann and Kunigunde Sigg Schabel, he was born in Fussen, Germany, on February 11, 1929.
Hans proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. After his Honorable Discharge he became a baker foreman at the Cadet Mess Bake Shop for the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls.
Survivors include his beloved wife Rita Leiblein Schabel, his loving daughter Diane Wright and her husband Robert of Chestnut Ridge, and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside interment of cremains took place at Eagle Valley Cemetery in the Town of Highlands.
