There are 161 water customers in Highland Falls who are in danger of having their water shut off.
The Village has 161 delinquent water accounts, from the May and November billings, and the Village Board has authorized the termination of service to those 161 customers as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26 if the bills are not paid.
The total of the 161 bills equals $50,494.99.
In another water matter from the February 3 Village Board meeting, the board, using services provided by Orange County, has detected four major water main leaks that were wasting about 70,000 gallons of water per day. Three were service lines to homes that are being repaired, and one was a water pipe on Knox Rd.
“That’s a lot of good, treated water that’s been going straight into the ground,” Trustee Jim Ramus said.
