Take a ‘virtual’ hike

At the FM State Historic Site

Interested in scaling the area’s icy mountains and crossing frozen lakes, but you don’t really want to leave the comfort (and safety!) of a chair? Then you’re going to want to take a virtual hike through the local woods with Fort Montgomery State Historic Site educator Peter Cutul on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. at Fort Montgomery.

“Make discoveries of natural interest all from the comfort of your chair,” says a flyer for the event. “In this slide lecture/armchair ramble, find out who’s active in the winter woods and some of the signs they leave behind. Scenic views included!”

No registration is necessary for this free program. However, if there is bad weather, call 446-2134 before attending to make sure its still on. The Fort Montgomery State Historic Site is located at 690 Rt. 9W.
