Eighth graders honored at Moving Up

Senator James Skoufis joined with fellow Greek-American legislators on March 22 in celebration of Greek Independence Day, advancing a Senate resolution to honor March as Greek History Month. 

MIDDLETOWN — SUNY Orange will celebrate the outstanding achievements of 608 local students — 21 of them from the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District — when the College hosts its 30th Sojourner Truth Awards Program at 6 p.m., Friday, March 6 in the Edward A. Diana Physical Education Building on the Middletown campus.

That’s one of the key goals of New York State’s Social Studies curriculum, to teach students not only about what has happened and what is happening in the world around them, but to learn how to express themselves — respectfully — in debates.
