Please, take time to stop by Village Hall
If you believe that the Village of Highland Falls could benefit from a $10 million New York State ‘Downtown Revitalization Initiative’ grant, please take a minute in the week ahead to stop by the lobby of Village Hall and sign a petition.
Signing the petition says that you support the village’s grant application to the state for this funding.
“We need at least 200 signatures to even be able to submit the application,” Mayor Joe D’Onofrio said at Monday’s Village Board meeting. The village will also need letters of support from community residents and businesses to submit along with the application.
If received, the funds would be used for “the revitalization of the village’s downtown — transforming the entire community where people live, work and raise their families”.
“There have to be at least 200 people out there — Highland Falls or Fort Montgomery — who think that us getting a $10 million grant would be a good thing,” the mayor said.
It didn’t take but a minute for the first two, from the audience at the meeting, to offer to sign.
The petition is sitting right inside the front doors of Village Hall, on the counter. Letters can be emailed to the mayor at MayorJoe@highlandfallsny.org.
Letters and signatures on the petition must all be submitted by Friday, May 17.
