Farmers Market assistance available

West Point-Town of Highlands Farmers Market manager Karen Parashkevov will be at both the April 16 Highlanders Senior Citizens meeting (1-2 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center) and the April 17 Community Forum (6:30-7:30 p.m. at The Center) to talk about how the local farmers market will be participating in the 2019 Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) this season.

The Village Board and Treasurer Ralph Walters have put together a budget for 2019-20 that does not exceed New York State’s mandatory tax cap; that is projected to pay down debt by about $605,000; and puts about $120,000 into reserve funds.

Positive news for HF-FMCSD

With the passage of the New York State budget on March 31, the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District ended up with $141,055 more in state Foundation Aid (general aid) than it received in 2018, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Sheboy said.
